1. What Tracely Is
Tracely is a time tracking tool that captures random screenshots during active work sessions to provide proof of work for freelancers and their clients. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the service:
Account information
Email address, full name, hashed password, and role (Client or Worker). Used for authentication and identifying your account.
Time session data
Start time, end time, pause intervals, and the project associated with each session. Used to compute billable hours.
Screenshots
Random screenshots captured during active tracking sessions. Stored as compressed JPEG images in encrypted-at-rest cloud storage (Cloudflare R2). Only the worker who captured them and the client they are assigned to can view them.

4. Screenshot Privacy Controls
Workers have explicit control over their screenshots:
2-minute delete window: After every screenshot is captured, the worker has 2 minutes to review and delete it before it becomes visible to the client. Deleting a screenshot also removes the billable time it anchored.
Tracking is always voluntary: Workers control when tracking starts and stops. There is no silent or background tracking. The tracker only captures screenshots while the worker has explicitly clicked "Start tracking."
Workers can view their own screenshots: Workers have access to screenshots captured during their own tracking sessions.
5. Data Storage and Security
Screenshots are stored in Cloudflare R2, encrypted at rest. Access is controlled via time-limited signed URLs — images are not publicly accessible.
Account data and session metadata are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on secure infrastructure.
All communication between the desktop tracker, the dashboard, and the API is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
6. Data Retention
Pro plan: Screenshots are retained for 90 days from the date of capture. After 90 days, screenshots are automatically and permanently deleted from storage.
Free trial: Screenshots are retained for 7 days.
Session metadata (timestamps, duration, project assignment) is retained for the lifetime of the account. You can request full account deletion at any time by contacting us.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties. Screenshots and session data are only visible to the worker who produced them and the client who owns the project the worker is assigned to.
8. Your Rights
You may exercise the following rights at any time by contacting us:
Access: Request a copy of all data associated with your account.
Deletion: Request permanent deletion of your account and all associated data.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate account information.
Export: Request an export of your time session data in CSV format.
